Interview tips

DO NOT BE LATE! First impressions are everything when you are going for a new job and this is not going to look good. Leave plenty of time to get there and plan a route in advance. Make sure you dress smartly and appropriately.

Speak to your consultant and find out as much information about the job as you can before you go. Job specific knowledge will show that you are serious about the role and many of the interview questions will require that you understand what the job will entail and what sort of responsibilities it will involve. Preparation is key and you should try to think about the sort of questions you will be asked and make sure you can relate your previous experience to the requirements of the job you are applying for.

When you meet your interviewer make sure you shake their hand and maintain a positive and enthusiastic demeanour. Making regular eye contact shows confidence and implies integrity. Be enthusiastic, open and honest. If you are asked a difficult question, do not be afraid of taking your time to answer. Just keep calm and you will be fine!

Make sure you listen to what the interviewer says as asking questions will reinforce your interest in the job. Ask about the next stage of the recruitment process. Will there be another round of interviews and when will they be making their decision? Before you leave, make sure they are in no doubt that you want the job as this may end up being the difference between two candidates.

And don't forget that your experienced 24/7 Recruitment Consultant is here for you, so do not hesitate to ask for help and advice, before or after your interview!
